Speaker Series :: Insights from an Intercultural Trip to Turkey

IITS has hosted Dr. Jody Welker, Pastor of Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church on our Speaker Series lecture titled "Insights from an Intercultural Trip to Turkey".

Jody Welker shared personal and spiritual perspectives and insights part of an inter-faith and intercultural experience with what he describes as a transformative trip to Turkey. He also shared how this trip informed his Christian perspective of inter-faith relationships, how it enriched those
relationships, and what we can learn from one another.

Dr. Jody Welker has been the pastor of the Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church for 10 years and an ordained Presbyterian clergy for over 32 years. He is a graduate of Auburn University and holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. He was raised in a family and in a church with a very strong interest in international relationships and peacemaking. The congregations he has led over the years have had a strong interest in mission. His present congregation has an active relationship with a Mayan Village in Guatemala with an emphasis on assisting in educational and economic development. Jody is married with two adult children. His wife, Sharon, the head of the Math and Physics Department at Wake Tech was also one of
the members of the recent trip.
