Celebration :: Eid of al-Fitr at the IITS

Raleigh : 08-19-2012

Turkish-American community and their guests celebrated Eid of al-Fitr at the IITS on August 19, Sunday.

Bayram (Eid) is a time to come together as a community and to renew friendship and family reunions. It is seen especially important to honor the elderly citizens wishing them Bayram greetings. It is also customary for children to go around the neighborhood, door to door, and wish everyone a happy Bayram, for which they are awarded candy or a small amount of pocket money at every door, almost in a Halloween-like fashion. These times are always remembered with great joy after years. This is a time for peace for all Believers in the world to devote to prayers and mutual well-being.
